What is ghostwriting?
Quite simply, the act of ghostwriting involves writing books, or any piece of literature (magazine or news articles, reports, White Papers etc.) on behalf of someone else.
Why do people hire ghostwriters?
Contrary to popular belief, it is not only those who struggle with the art of writing that seek the services of a ghostwriter. Many of my clients are academics who can write perfectly well but do not have the time to sit down every night and write thousands of words.
Similarly, there are those that can write but do not have the appropriate writing style to appeal to a larger audience, outside the field of academia, and this is where I come in.
Is ghostwriting a form of cheating?
Absolutely not. There is a lot of snobbery out there about using ghostwriters but people forget that the whole process is entirely interactive and collaborative. Both parties are involved in working towards the same goal: making the manuscript the best it can possibly be, and that involves time, dedication, and commitment on both sides.
The book would not be possible without the vast knowledge and expertise of the client, and although I may put that knowledge into words, it is very much the client's book when it is published.
